| Diving & Water Sports | is Dominica's
foremost beach hotel. Located in the middle of the west coast of the island, all of
Dominica's famous attractions are within easy reach. Sites such as the Cabrits National
Park and Indian River in Portsmouth, the Syndicate Nature trail
in the parrot habitat, Emerald Pool in the Northern Forest Reserve and Trafalgar
Falls east of the capital city of Roseau are all just 30 to 45 minutes away
from the hotel. When looking at the map of Dominica, Castaways is located about 1.5 miles north of the mouth of the Layou River, between the small vilages of St. Joseph and Mero. A 25 minute drive down the coast will put you at the Canefield Airport and the capital city of Roseau. A one-hour drive through the virgin rainforest gets you at Melville Hall airport. |

The 26 rooms of the hotel are set in a lush, tropical garden on a beautiful gray sand beach. One of the finest in Dominica. The five acre grounds of the hotel are the home to many interesting flora and fauna, including many species of birds, iguanas, traveler palms, mango trees and more. | |||
| The attractive and spacious accommodations
offer calming Caribbean vistas from the balcony of every room. When Mr. Bill Harris purchased and completed constructions on the hotel some 35 years ago, he took great pride in personally landscaping the gardens to his liking. Over the years, to this date, he has continued to groom the tropical surroundings. The result is a truley beautiful hotel setting, unmatched in Dominica. The atmosphere is one of "old time Caribbean", having be called "Hemingwayistic" by recent guests. The setting, coupled with the service provided by a small, family run operation, makes for an ideal vacation resort. |
