CAL assures all confirmed ferry passengers transported over airbridge
14 March 2018

Caribbean Airlines is advising that its domestic operations have been enhanced to support the number of passengers affected by the disruption of the ferry service and to reinforce its regular schedule on the air bridge.

A total of 40 flights between Trinidad and Tobago were expected to be completed by Wednesday night.

This comes following media reports of chaos at the Piarco International Airport on Tuesday night after the cancellation of two domestic flights which were carded to transport ferry passengers.

The passengers were reportedly waiting for several hours as the first flight out, BW1500, which was supposed to leave at 5:45 am, left at 7:30 am.

Later that evening, the 7:45 pm flight, BW 150 was delayed to 9:15 pm, however, reports say at around 10 pm, customers were informed that there would be no more flights to Tobago.

In a statement, CAL said on Tuesday, March 13, it operated 38 flights and all persons holding confirmed ferry tickets were transported from both Piarco International and A.N.R. Robinson International

"The total number of passengers carried (including passengers with confirmed ferry tickers): 2657 - of this figure 1148 were stand-by passengers," the airline said.

"The airline continues to operate its core schedule and is also adding seats daily to facilitate seamless travel between Trinidad and Tobago. The Port Authority and the airline are collaborating to ensure that persons holding confirmed ferry tickets are accommodated on Caribbean Airlines services. The Port Authority has representatives at both Piarco International Airport and A.N.R Robinson International Airport, Tobago to assist customers. Caribbean Airlines is closely managing the air bridge operation and remains committed to providing consistent and reliable service to its valued customers," CAL assured.
