Major airport: RohlsonSt Croix, at 84 square miles, is the largest of the U.S. Virgin Islands. It has arid, rocky terrain in the east and is lushly tropical in the west - the intervening land is rolling upland pasture. The principal towns are Christiansted on the northeast shore and Fredericksted on the west coast. St. Croix is 40 miles south of St. Thomas.
Christiansted, the capital, lies on a beautiful coral-bound bay, and was once the capital of the Danish West Indies, as is attested by its old, Danish-style buildings. Among the many things to do, see and visit is the island's breathtaking underwater national park at Buck Island.
Weddings (as of 29 Sept,. 2007):
Costs: $50 application fee, $50 for licence and $200 fee for ceremonies performed in the court by a judge. There is a $150 surcharge for being married on a Sunday or holiday.
Waiting period: Eight days.
Documents: Applicants are required to appear in person before a Clerk of the Court or their designee to be examined under oath.
